Case Study: Pietra Serena Sandstone Paving, Gloucestershire
A sweeping curved wall surrounds an impressive paved terrace at this country property where Pietra Serena sandstone paving has been used to striking effect.
The Italian grey sandstone paving, which was used extensively in Renaissance Florence and the flooring of all Apple stores around the world, is known for its durability, uniform grain and clean surface.
The Pietra Serena grey sandstonewas specified by garden designer, Annie Pearce, who was hired to transform this impressive Gloucestershire garden into a countryside haven.
Pietra Serena Sandstone Landscape Project
The project included using Pietra Serena sandstonepaving for both a path to the front door as well as the patio at the rear of the property. Numerous bespoke step treads and pier caps were also made to order along with curved copings that sit on the top of the Purbeck stone wall between the sandstone-paved terrace and the lawn.
The cool grey tone of the pietra serena sandstone beautifully complements the property’s pale grey doors and windows while also contrasting well with the warm-coloured stone the house is built from.
Annie’s clients were ‘delighted’ with the results and compliments were also received from those who helped to create the garden, commenting that the stone was easy to lay.
This beautiful Gloucestershire garden was the work of Annie Pearce, a garden designer who has been creating stunning outdoor spaces for over 20 years.
