Case study: Country retreat’s characterful beige stone flooring
Barr rendition limestone is a much-loved option for beige stone flooring among our clients, with the owners of this country retreat charmed by its rustic appeal and warm colours.
The hand-finished stone has been used for the flooring throughout much of the downstairs of their home, including in the welcoming kitchen, cosy living room and expansive hallway.
Created to replicate the look and feel of a genuine, old French flagstone floor, this material features pale cream colours through to grey brown tones while the surface and edges have been aged to create the texture of a floor that has been walked over for many decades.
In the entrance hall, a wooden barn door along with antique furniture and art complement the rustic style of the floor, while Farrow and Ball’s Oxford Stone paint features on the walls. The homeowners book collection has also begun to fill the shelves in the impressive bookcase on the mezzanine landing above.
The beige stone flooring continues into the warm living room where the property’s original fireplace and wooden beams are proudly displayed alongside more antique furniture and cosy armchairs. The walls have been finished using Farrow and Ball paint in Book Room Red to bring the room in and make the space wrap around those within it.
Onwards to the kitchen diner where the family, along with their Springer Spaniel Nutty, can enjoy cooking and eating together in a space that feels the epitome of homeliness and authenticity. Dark green shaker cabinetry and an impressive island for food preparation really deliver on look and practicality while completing the style which resonates from the floor up.
Barr rendition limestone is just one of the many beige stone flooring options we have – whether you are looking for a rustic or modern finish we can be sure to help you.
