I have always had an eye for colour and texture, which has played a huge part in my success when choosing and creating natural stone finishes. My early career was spent as a trained colour matcher tasked with matching paint colours, wood stains and lacquers by eye – perfecting the finished tone requested by clients including bespoke kitchen companies and luxury office furniture producers. It was extremely therapeutic and rewarding. Still today I miss it but machines do much of this now.
In 2007 I was introduced to the stone industry as a salesman for a well-respected family business. When I viewed their website I was instantly hooked by the limestone floors and marble basins. There was an immediate passion for natural materials and colour.
After two years with the company, the recession of 2008-2009 hit. This is when I took control of my future and left my role to begin selling for other wholesale businesses on a freelance basis. At the same time Natural Stone Consulting was born.
Since then, our company has grown steadily to what it is today. My wife Sam joined in 2015 after a successful career as editor of a local newspaper and she now oversees many marketing aspects of the business along with sales and customer service.
As well as our dedicated showroom in Newbury, Berkshire, our operation also includes a warehouse stocking our much-loved and exclusive materials. The latest addition in the South West is a charming converted stable in Wick St Lawrence, North Somerset, which now functions as our head office and also a second showroom. Our team is five-strong and also includes our Doberman Rosco who is always happy to greet you in Wick.
My passion for natural stone has not faded despite many years in the industry and challenges along the way and I thank those who have helped and supported us to where we are now. This includes the factories and craftsmen that we work with who share this passion – without them we could not bring these amazing natural materials and stone tiles to you.
We look forward to working with you so please do get in touch.
